8 Must See Cherry Blossom Spots Near Pyeongtaek
It’s the most magical time of year here in Korea — Cherry Blossom Season. The cherry blossoms typically bloom in late March/early April, but unfortunately only last about 2 weeks due to Spring showers (so definitely try to see as much as you can right when they bloom). While Seoul, Busan, and Gyeongju might have some famous cherry blossom viewing spots, there are plenty of beautiful spots here locally in Pyeongtaek as well.
Below are eight great cherry blossom spots here in Pyeongtaek to check out this Spring:
-Boaz Mansion Cafe. This cute coffee shop sits on a secluded road lined with cherry blossom trees behind Kookje University. If you’re trying to take photos along the road, you’ll want to go on a weekday morning, during the weekend the traffic will be at an almost standstill.

-Ewharo 256 Cafe. This pretty cottage-style cafe features plenty of outdoor seating, a lunch menu, and a cute treehouse photo spot. We went on a rainy day, however the cherry blossoms still looked beautiful against the twinkling string lights. For an even better view, head to the deck of the treehouse for a great cherry blossom backdrop.

-PIEF Building. Close to Songtan & Osan AB, this building features a short hillside driveway lined with cherry blossoms, and is one of the less trafficked cherry blossom spots. Taking your photos from the bottom of the hill looking up will give you the best view.

-Pyeongtaek City Hall. The city hall area is well worth exploring in the Spring, as it’s lined with cherry blossoms, magnolias, tulips, and more. It’s beautiful to drive by, but would also make a great photo spot walking the flower-lined sidewalks.

-Camp Humphrey’s backroads. Pretty much all of the backroads surrounding Camp Humphreys are lined with cherry blossoms. The roads are a bit wider here, so you unfortunately don’t get the flower tunnel effect, however this is still a stunning area to drive through and enjoy the start of Spring.
A bit further, but worth the drive:
-Gakwonsa Temple in Cheonan. This temple is about 30-45min South of Pyeongtaek and also features the stunning king cherry blossom trees. This is another location you’ll want to visit on a weekday or very early in the morning on a weekend. It’s also an active Buddhist Temple, so you’ll want to dress respectfully and try to keep any noise down near the prayer rooms.

-Cafe Piora in Dangjin. We unfortunately didn’t get to check this peaceful looking spot out this year, as the rain came shortly after the trees bloomed in this area. However, it looks stunning with the cherry blossoms against the long countryside grass. They also have a separate area with king cherry blossoms, which blooms about 1-2 weeks afterwards.
